I've been meaning to write another
rant about the Portland International Film
Festival. About how it's yearly line-up only seems to appeal to the stodgiest of movie fans. About how for every "Lady Vengeance" there's at least a dozen dreary docu-dramas about "one family's struggle to battle alcoholism, existential melancholy and bad posture." About how 95% of the lineup would put the average filmgoer to sleep by the end of the opening credits.
But the
Mercury's Erik Henriksen beat me to it. Here's
a link to what he had to say about the festival in last week's issue.
